The Education Requirements for a Doctor of Chiropractic:

Doctors of Chiropractic attend a four year accredited chiropractic college. This is following the completion of undergraduate level studies that are similar to pre-medical undergraduate studies. In addition to comprehensive adjusting technique courses, the graduate level studies are rigorous with extensive studies in courses such as anatomy, physiology, neurology, and all aspects of human biology. The chiropractic student has a full year of clinical based experience. The combination of classroom and clinical experience is to fulfill the 4200 hours of education requirements. The courses of study must be approved by an accrediting agency in order for the chiropractic college to be a certified accredited chiropractic college. The US Department of Education has certified the accredited chiropractic colleges for over thirty years. All fifty states have provisions for the licensure of Doctors of Chiropractic. In Washington State, Chiropractors are required to complete twenty-five hours of continuing education per year. The continuing hours are to help ensure that Chiropractors remain current in the care of their patients.
